Want to support us in fostering the development of strong and reliable female leaders?
We are always seeking volunteers in Montreal and Toronto. Below you will find the description of different committees you can sit on to help S.Y.F. fulfill its mission. Contact us to book a call, a Skype or a get-together if you are interested in volunteering with us: email@example.com.
-Implement SYF’s recruitment plan;
-Liaise with existing school contacts to keep them informed of our programs and events;
-Keep database of school contacts up to date;
-Organize school recruitment meetings (April-September);
-Identify at least 10 new schools per year to approach every year (program introduction to school administrators);
-Put together a training to be given to current SYF participants so that they can assist with following year’s recruitment;
-Identify opportunities for recruitment outside of schools;
-Work with the Alumnae committee head to identify ambassadors that are willing to accompany the National Director and SYF staff to recruitment visits;
-Take part in talks regarding SYF’s expansion in other cities, provinces;
-Review and modernize recruitment materials (school kiosks, posters, power points, etc.).
Time commitment: 2-5 hours per month (March to June)

Reports to: Chair of the Recruitment Committee
Grant Review Committee
-Identify at least 5 major grants (private and public) that SYF qualifies for;
-Assist the Operations Manager with research that supports grant applications;
-Review major grant applications before submission;
-Identify awards that recongnize women leaders and work with the Operations Manager to identify and nominate the appropriate member of the SYF team;
-Assist the Operations Manager with template letters seeking donations from MPS and MNAs;
-Assist the SYF team with identify, applying and promoting funding opportunities that are social media user driven (ex: Kia Drive for Change, Aviva Community Fund)
Time commitment: 1-4 hours per month
Number of people on the committee: 2-3
Reports to: Operations Manager
Event Committee (Montreal)
-Plan and coordinate the Montreal’s annual Fall cocktail fundraiser;
-Work with designer to draft invitation;
-Coordinate distribution of invitation and manage RSVP list;
-Review and bring up to date material needed to approach sponsors;
-Find, coordinate and train volunteers;
-In collaboration with the SYF staff, identify and approach public figures ( guest speakers and masters of ceremonies);
-Find and negotiate prices with venue, caterer, florist, and other vendors;
-In collaboration with the SYF team, prepare material for the event- program , power point, and other visuals;
-In collaboration with SYF team, and in accordance with the organization’s communication plan, elaborate and carry out a comprehensive event communication plan; –
Coordinate with the auction committee to insure sufficient number of items gathered d for the event;
-Help with thank you notes and post-event tasks as required;
-Other tasks related to event planning.
Time commitment: 3-4 hours per month (May to September)
